Summary:
This thesis examines four resident led initiatives developing markedly different analysis, and strategies for addressing the challenges of public housing. The key findings of this thesis are that while these initiatives differ, they all address key ideas missing from professionally led development, including changes in the institutions governing public housing, a focus on equity and justice, and more nuanced spatial thinking. They are also forging equal partnerships with outside organizations.
